President

Bio:I have been an actively practicing RMT for over 17 years. I started my own clinic from the ground up, and have seen it evolve from 2 employees to over 27. In this time I have been a member of many massage associations, and have participated on many boards. The one thing that seems consistent is that the majority of those involved work for others and have not had to deal with staffing or training issues, which have a significant impact on the massage industry. I am part owner of Associate Massage Therapy Clinic and Laser Center in Red Deer. In 2000 my partner and I opened the Northern Institute of Massage Therapy to address the training that we felt was lacking in the industry. The RMTA meets both my needs and the needs of our students. It also meets the needs of employers in the industry by ensuring competent levels of training and conduct. In my role as President of the RMTA I am able to use my experience to further the Association’s objectives, and appreciate the opportunity to do so.

Treasurer

Bio: I took my first massage course in the fall of 1977. I am a fully qualified RMT. I am part owner of Associate Massage Therapy and Laser Clinic and of the Northern Institute of Massage Therapy, both located in Red Deer. My main focus is the development and delivery of training for both our clinic staff and our students. I believe that Massage Therapy is undervalued in our society, and that the only way that this will change is by the conduct and quality of Massage Therapists themselves. I believe that the credentialing and requirements for membership to the RMTA do this without being elitist, and am proud to volunteer on its behalf.

Historian

Bio:My name is Ardis Tingey-Ryall, I have been a massage therapist for 20 years and I own my own business In Touch Massage Centre in Lloydminster. I have belonged to the RMTA for 20 years. I joined RMTA because I believed in what they stood for. They only allow 2200 hour therapists to join their association so I knew that I was going to be among other therapists that were worthy of the title RMT and had good education background. I have been on the RMTA board for 12 years and continue to support the new executive in office today. I believe in the RMTA so much that I have served as a board member for years and I believe that we all must do our part to help it to move forward and stay strong.
